One of my family’s core values is humility. This results in two things:

1. We want our work to speak for itself, so we’re driven to always do our best work (feature)

2. We don’t want to speak about our work, so we’re bad at selling ourselves (bug)

The latter is particularly dangerous when we do need to sell ourselves, which is every time an opportunity presents itself.

I was talking to @keccers.eth in a full what-have-I-ever-done-that’s-moved-the-needle spiral when she asked me to send her my CV. “It’s just a CV,” I said. "Bullet points and numbers."

This morning, she sends me a 15 min podcast of a guy and a girl analyzing me: my character, my values, my accomplishments, my potential.

“I popped your CV into NotebookLM and gave it one instruction: tell me what kind of person ted is,” she said.

It was critical, accurate, grounded, and bullish. Two AI-generated voices selling me TO ME.

What the fuck.

This type of collaborative AI (AI with friends) is unbeatable. Same goes for crypto.

Any process recommendations for young families in the /parenting channel who want define theirs?

Show not tell.

I come from an Asian family and in general your parents don’t affirm affection verbally. They just dedicate their lives to us. A struggle when juxtaposed against non-immigrant American families.

Metaphorical truth:

Something that literally false or unknown, but if you act as if it were true you’re better off than acting based on how it actually is.

Some exs

1. Porcupines can shoot their quills 

They can’t, but your mom might say this to keep you away from them, and this decreases odds of getting pined.

2. Treat all guns as if they are loaded

If I had an empty gun, then it’s harmless. That doesn’t mean I can play cops and robbers with it. You’re better off lying to yourself about it being loaded so you treat it with respect.

This concept illustrates how the optimal way to act isn’t necessarily based on the truth.

In Judaism there’s a cultural value where intelligence is seen as equivalent as material wealth. So you marry your kid off to someone really smart it’s same as a rich family.

Seems like a ingenious adaptation for producing people that can navigate complex intellectual problems 😉

I always say the hardest thing to see in life is the thing that’s not there but if it were itd make your life easier.

I find it useful to meditate on that wrt to my life (tongue scraper is a good one)
