2024 wordsss.com recap: a bigger and better inaugural year than I could have dreamed of :) launched end of January as "a storytelling studio focused on helping founders, creators, designers and inventors tell more compelling and coherent tales of their work" really proud of all the work we did this year, but we have so much to learn. we are doubling down on what we're good at it in the new year, looking to work on more of the same: positioning (and re-positioning), launches, rebrands, website copy, product marketing, and decks. reach out if you think you could use our help, would love to chat/yap/spew. and a huge thank you to everyone who was part of our year 1 journey, we are just getting started :))

Chris Paik is an investor and co-founder of Pace Capital. Chris is all about intentionality and discovery. He combines rigorous frameworks about incentives, people, and markets with an insatiable appetite for the new. He is a true original thinker. We discuss his intentionality, approach to explanations, how culture follows a pendulum, the efficient market hypothesis and other frameworks for evaluating businesses and markets—including his newest on top-down vs. bottom-up companies, how he finds new stuff, the pros and cons of the internet and capitalism, Pace Capital’s values, and the inner-workings of Chris’s unusual mind. Episode 6 is out now on all platforms, more links below: https://pods.media/dialectic/6-chris-paik-intentionally-in-search-of-the-new?referrer=0x9b902482E62Db8FC486C3f1acAA568006021DbEC

forgot how good it feels to physically touch a product I've worked on (wordsss.com did the positioning, verbal ID and copy for rorra.com) "Premium water filtration, rigorously tested to significantly reduce your exposure to harmful contaminants." I knew they were serious about making the best countertop water filter product but I wasn't able to fully appreciate how well-crafted and thoughtfully designed it was until I touched it (note: this is replacing my Berkey) bringing products to market for the first time is hands-down one of the best parts of this job we are looking to take on more work in the health and wellness space this year please reach out if you think we can help you better explain what your thing is and why it matters

@patchwork I am obviously not the audience for this, but I do think it could stand to be a bit more simplified with a lot less jargon, so I *could* get it (despite not being the target) looks really nice though

Ok trying something I've never done before: Opening myself up for hire as a Usability Consultant I use a lot of crypto products - or at minimum, research into using them, and click through the UI up until "confirm". And there's so much that is just so confusing. For up to an hour, I will use your product and tell you what doesn't make sense, and why. Why am I good at this? - dumb enough to not automatically know what the app does - smart enough to communicate why it doesn't make sense and a potential solution

In 2023 I created a cohort course called 80/20 Cooking. I took 3 groups of 50 students each through a 4-week introduction to the fundamentals of cooking. I'm no longer doing the live cohorts, but I've taken all of the content and turned it into a self-paced option. It's a minimalist guide to learn the fundamentals of cooking. - 12 lessons (mix of written, photos, and videos) covering the most important concepts - 15 recipes (technique-driven dishes designed to put the concepts in the lessons into practice) You'll also get access to a Telegram group for additional questions and feedback, and a custom AI chat that's built into the course so you can ask questions and get real-time answers about the lessons and practice recipes. If you're interested in getting an email when it goes live you can subscribe here! https://mylescooks.kit.com/8020

Ava is one of my favorite writers. She writes full-time for her Substack, Bookbear Express. In recent years, I'm not sure I've recommended anyone to friends and loved ones more, and it seems like the world agrees: she just crossed 30K subscribers. It was fun to read some excerpts back to her throughout the interview. We cover a ton of ground, including writing, consistency, commitment, friendship, authenticity, self-respect, taste, beauty, and much more. Enjoy! https://pods.media/dialectic/4-ava-alive-in-writing-and-in-love?referrer=0x9b902482E62Db8FC486C3f1acAA568006021DbEC

Big one today: @dwr.eth on Dialectic! I had a blast talking to Dan about: - why 140 characters matter - the background and inspiration for Farcaster (including an RSS history) - how Elon buying Twitter changed things - The "Field of Dreams Fallacy" - what Farcaster is and what success means - recent updates around programmability, Clanker, AnonCast - The future of Farcaster, value capture, and sufficient decentralization - The idea maze, Coinbase, Brian Armstrong, Balaji, politics, podcasts, and much more Enjoy! https://pods.media/dialectic/3-dan-romero-why-information-should-flow-on-protocols?referrer=0x9b902482E62Db8FC486C3f1acAA568006021DbEC
