I hope that world-consequential AI firms can have governance that is more open and transparent. Neither the "profit maxing trad corp" nor the "unaccountable board of 5 people making decisions based on secret knowledge" thing sit well with me. Need a better approach.

If anything, this situation truly highlighted the importance of governance and decentralization. It highlighted that so many have a strong dependency on a single company's offerings which could be threatened by a few actors.

True, and this applies perfectly to the relations between the blockchain space and X, owned by one only man who wants to keep users inside the app… Fortunately decentralized socials are here !

Right now he is one of the most centralized point of power on the planet, and it has taken a very centralized direction for X. Maybe he will change is mind, but for now that’s exactly the issue : X is completely under the power of one mind, despite its 250 millions users…
