1. Is Farcaster 10x better than the blue app? 2. Does decentralization/blockchain make FC a 10x better UX? Interestingly, I think 1 is Yes but 2 is No Put differently: FC has clear signs of PMF but the core innovation isn't the driver, at least not directly, at least not yet

10x better in what category? The UX is catering to a web3 native audience. Community is full of mostly builders so conversations are more thoughtful. And decentralization needs time for exponential effects. I agree on clear PMF, but also this is all on testnet rn :)

I think you are (dramatically) underestimating the importance of composability / developer ecosystem

decentralization (or promise of it) more important than many think the most talented will not show up to build on a complementary asset owned by someone else; that isn't permissionless or free to all don't build on facebook like zynga, build on the web like google #2 is foundation for #1 w/o #2, best builders leave

I would say #2 is a yes. For example, bird app search is broken and sucks and won't be fixed ever. Search performance on purple app seems to be independent of the client / team.

FC for now seems to be attracting a certain community and offering that community a place to congregate that has a higher signal to noise ratio. There's someone (need to find 'em) who had some great points about: are you building a platform to foster a new community, or are you building a platform for an existing one

2 is No? I wouldn't be here if I thought I was joining another walled garden. Neither would most of us. The openness promise is what got us here, web3 technology enables that openness promise to be credible

I think what makes FC 10x better UX is the community and discussions rather than the technology itself. Being decentralized is still critical, as we see already with permissionless innovation on the FC protocol.

hosted purple app product features add the most value on day 1 decentralized farcaster protocol adds the most value on day 10,000 the benefits of an open ecosystem accrue slowly at first, then compound explosively (if we get it right of course!)

Today - most the UX lift is driven by community curation. Signal is 10x vs blue app

1. Promising, yes. 2. Not directly but it filters who makes it here. From there it’s what you’re after. Conversation standard is strong but only for web3 adjacent topics and only by believers. We still need somewhere (CT for now) that doesn’t wall off objectors, normies and other subject matter experts.

Balaji probably said it best. FC is 10x better because of the community first and technology later.

wrt 2, I think it's composability that makes FC 10x better, even today. blockchain / decentralization enable that in some ways, but they're not the same thing.

Permissionless innovation enabled by the core protocol is part of the decentralization promise and directly impacts "PMF" imo.

Too early still… I remember when clubhouse was touted as the next big social wave. It capitalized on the remote world of Covid. FC is capitalizing on unclear future of Twitter. 2 has to be yes if FC has a future
