Here is an issue where I actually feel like siding with the SV techbro overlords a bit.

The issue is that many of these statements are totally fine in the "rest of the world" .... once you remember that "rest of the world" is not "Anglosphere + Europe"

"don't tell kids to follow their dreams if their dreams are stupid" - would poll very well with non-WEIRD conservative parents pretty much anywhere

criticism of universities - the broader message of "universities should focus on learning, not politics" is similarly popular

I can’t say I disagree with either of those.

With the “dreams” part, I guess it depends what criteria “stupid” is defined with. There’s a difference between a “stupid” dream and a “hard to obtain or almost impossible” dream.
