Random thoughts on AI. Ultimately, I don’t want an agent, an assistant, an advisor. These aren’t bad, having them in addition would be fine. But an agent is just automation, an assistant is a Palm Pilot, an advisor is fancy search. Value would come in a collaborator, AI as a feed back loop between equals, or as some type of merge. Complimentary to my weaknesses, amplifier to my strengths.

Hey, /booksuggestions, I’m looking for a book for my Dad that defines all the terms in crypto from an investment point of view, then explain the nuts and bolts of trading. I learned basically with years of deep machine learning in my neural nexus, but he needs something for someone who knows tradition investing, not the tech.

I’ve decided the really degen thing to have done Monday is at beginning of trading, short a lot of shares of all the AI related stocks for a penny stock with low volume and not much action. at 20% above market, then at end of day, sell it to buy the AI stocks back.

So: - Pre-covid, High-Flyer hedge fund decides investing in AI was important, starts buying GPUs and starts Fire-Flyer which becomes DeepSeek. - In 2021, they bought 10000 GPUs, then bans after that limited their competitors. - They didn’t hire Western AI people or send people to the West for education, also unlike their competitors, they hired enthusiastic young people with no knowledge and experience and basically just had them start doing things to learn as they go. - They have been focusing only on creating large models, and have avoided taking time, energy, talent, and money to build apps on it. - They open sources to get the global community to aid in the advancement. https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/kANyEjDDFWkhSKbcK/two-interviews-with-the-founder-of-deepseek

So, moving and starting a new job threw my droning in a hiatus, like some other hobbies. New house is in an airport zone and haven’t identified good places to go yet, or had time. The drone has been in the closet since August. Hopefully in the Spring, it comes out of the closet.

All this I’ve said before, and all this I’ll say again. If with my knowledge, skills, and experience with both the infrastructure and apps fight each new app to get it to connect to a wallet, Web3 is not ready for the general populace yet.

I come and go from Warp, like all social media, partly because of real life reasons to limit online presence, partly because of the BS that sometimes means more Warp, less everything else, sometimes means avoiding social media all together. Anyway, what’s new here in the last six months or so?
