Is it just me, or when you see Product Hunt and Medium in the social proof section you think worse of the site?

as founders we're definitely more critical of this. but if the customer thinks its good, then its good. xD

I think logos are mostly overrated, at least for mass market consumers, they definitely want to see reviews and real customer commentary. But press releases and investor logos are less impactful -- most consumers are fairly cynical these days.

what does it mean to be featured by Medium ? Isn't it a paid sub?

I think I take a little more of a pessimistic view when I see “featured & trusted by” because those are two very different things. Trusted by is the social proof that matters. Not write-ups or PH launches.

If it’s a new indie SaaS I’ll forgive them for the PH proof (since everyone is doing it anyway). Otherwise, yeah these are anti-signals.
