started wondering what % of twitter indie hacker influencers' MRR comes from other indie hackers - many of the products I see cater to that scene.

i’d guess high, 20-50% only other founders care about your mmr, so if you use it for marketing, you will be inevitably selling to other founders (which is not necessarily bad)

good point re. marketing. I agree that it's not necessarily bad - but starts to feel zero-sum across the whole community if it's really as high as 50%.

Not zero sum at all. Everyone helps each other move up. If I sell my product to you at 20 dollars per month you’ve added 750-1250 dollars of value to my business. Based on 3-5x mrr. If indie hackers all just buying from each other they’re adding a lot of value to each other. Same happens with startups.
