Stripped the persimmon tree with @christin’s help today. Gave her a few bags but we still have a ton of fruit! I’ll be posting in /yeschef with some persimmon culinary creations!

Persimmon dishes! I'm looking forward to it.😋 I've only ever eaten them raw or in a salad.

I eat 90% of them raw but my wife bakes with them and I can make some favorite dishes with them too.

By the way, do you make dried persimmons? In Japan, it is customary to dry persimmons and eat them as a preserved food. The sweetness is concentrated and they are very delicious.

I’ve had dried persimmons, if we have extras we might dry some but I prefer them fresh.

I agree! I love fresh persimmons 100%! In Japan, there are a lot of astringent persimmons, so maybe they are made into dried persimmons!😅

Yes, probably. I prefer and have Fuyu persimmons. Hachiya are either astringent or very sweet!

I see persimmons in supermarkets, and there are so many different kinds! I like Fuyu persimmons too.🥰

Can you grow them where you live?

I don't make them anymore, but my grandfather had one. It was an edible persimmon, but the persimmons at my friend's house were bitter. I think they are made all over Japan.

Ah too bad, in California where I live there are plenty of persimmon trees, the climate is really good for them. I just counted and I have ~90 left 😂
