I listened to a podcasts recently both of which touched on children and screens. One was an interview with an eye doctor who said exposing very young children to screens will most likely make them near sighted because their eyes will be permanently shaped as they grow with the kind of vision they use the most. If they are focusing only on things close to them the majority of the time then that will influence their sight. And 80% of the world’s population will be nearsighted by 2030 because of our modern lifestyle of spending all our time indoors and in front of screens. The other was journalism about “intense parenting” and cited advice from the American Pediatricians Association that small children should not be exposed to screens more than a few minutes a day for several years after birth, though it didn’t go into all the effects of it. I feel human bodies are not suited for our modern life and it’s going to get harder and harder for each new generation as we normalize the bad effects.

Personally less screen time is needed imo, if any at all. especially in young kids and as much as you can on older kids. Which i know is tough to do with teens😂 And no they will not be behind their peers or not able to adapt by not staring at a screen.
