what an S-tier ad - https://x.com/EarlyManFilm/status/1770308176476299271 firstly, the editing. this is something I think @coinbase has succeeded at with "Break the Cycle" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4F9u8Z84YI) & "This Commercial Isn't About Pizza" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NON0euNOj3k). but critically, those are "telling" as Chuck Palahniuk would say. there's creative space for the visceral as shown in the Jindal ad. it's every cut of every process, the relentless montage of industry & humanity in sync. imho, we need to "show" crypto and networks like Ethereum. these need to be about every object changing hand, every social media post likened to feelers of lightning, every claim turning into a cup of coffee in the next instant. idk what should be on The Orb or in the Superbowl, but it isn't just a logo and a conversational thread. through such a medium, one should feel how powerful crypto already is, for them.

Yep. That's an example of the stereotypical "classic man". It's a good ideal to aspire to (as a guy), don't get me wrong. It's just ironic that people cherry-pick which parts of the traditional gender structure they like.

Can't think of any atm. But if you look, the signs are usually there. A good example is that nearly every romantic novel features the aforementioned trope in *some* form. It plays out IRL too where people talk about "nice guys don't get laid" and whatnot. (Ironic that some nice guys may identify as "feminist" too).

Frank Herbert's Dune should be treated as a philosophical text, not a mere work of fiction.

A stated vs. revealed preferences problem plagues some brands of modern-day feminism. An example: criticizing traditional gender roles while showing admiration for men who display certain qualities associated with traditional gender roles (e.g., women love "strong men" trope) and dismissing those w/o said qualities.

So something people will say is "Lots of people are self-diagnosing with ADHD even if they don't have it" (which makes them skeptical in general). Even I got told "Well, I also struggle with distraction and I don't need meds" by many friends when I received my diagnosis. It's easy to misdiagnose people with ADHD because the condition is really a combination of issues that even neurotypical people deal with. For example, the regular human deals with procrastination, distraction, depression, and so on. So it's easy to dismiss ADHD as fake. The difference (speaking from personal experience): - ADHD predisposes you to experiencing these issues in elevated form. Procrastinating on your emails is fairly normal. Procrastinating to the point where you actively self-sabotage (akrasia) is NOT normal. - ADHD predisposes you to a larger combination of these issues. It's not normal to simultaneously deal with procrastination, depression, anxiety, executive dysfunction, and a dozen other comorbid conditions.

Maybe I'll make a thread about this. But the truth is that the only way to know if you have ADHD is to go for an actual diagnosis. If you get prescribed meds and/or implement other interventions and notice changes, that's evidence something was wrong previously.

This post from @sdv.eth hit harder than I expected. You won't understand the pain behind "Where did I go wrong?" unless you've lived with the experience of trying and failing to manage ADHD. ADHDers are some of the most determined and resourceful people you'll meet, which means you can bet we'll try everything to get better. But what you learn quickly is that ADHD almost always means fighting a difficult war with nature and losing 90% of the time. I avoid talking about ADHD publicly because it often sounds like complaining. However, acknowledging the difficulty of working and living as a neurodivergent individual means I can cut myself some slack and recognize the small wins. Sometimes you wish you never knew about this weird four-letter condition. I'll always choose knowledge over ignorance, though. Knowing how my brain functions and understanding my limits has made life easier/tolerable in certain cases. Maybe it does get better.

Out of curiosity, how does medication prevent you from speaking to source/god? What does speaking to source/god achieve?

I mean, I have tried a dozen different interventions so I know external factors affect ADHD management. Doesn't mean my brain isn't wired different.

Lol, what? There's years and years of studies showing that ADHDers clearly have a dopamine imbalance and that causes a ton of issues. Here's an entire paper on the science of ADHD: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2626918/#sec-a.k.etitle

This. It's even worse when you're super ambitious and it looks like you're always behind and can never meet up with others.

Nope. Hasn't gotten easier. The only difference is that at least I know how to deal with certain things now than before. Or maybe it's that I can reduce the self-judgment and identify what's ADHD and what's me (even though I still have lots of self-judgment).

Every time I see someone make fun of ADHD and suggest it's fake, or a conspiracy by Big Pharma to sell medication, I get mad all over again. This thing is very real and the people who suffer from it wouldn't wish on their worst enemies.

"ADHD doesn't exist and it's a conspiracy theory by Big Pharma to pump people with pills" doesn't make sense. Maybe fasting helps w/ ADHD (even if the symptoms worsen for some people when they don't eat). Doesn't eliminate altered brain's chemistry and the need for medication to correct that imbalance.

It's crazy because I know it's normal to ask for things. And I won't certainly get things without asking for them (something something if you don't ask, the answer is always no). Sadly, my brain hasn't registered that information yet--so here we are. Slowly getting better at it, though.
