This castle is located on the forested heights of Fuman County among towering trees. To enjoy this place, you must have a semi-heavy walk, because you have to walk about 1000 steps carved from stone. Rudkhan Castle was registered as one of the sights of Fuman in the list of national monuments of Iran in 1354. In 1830, a Polish researcher named Alexander Shodzko Khechko first discovered Rudkhan Castle of Fuman.

most important military fortresses in Iran. The castle’s strategic location atop a mountain overlooking the sea made it a strong base for monitoring the region and defending against invasions. The architectural similarity of Markoh Castle to Babak Castle suggests that it was inspired by the defensive architecture prevalent at that time. Materials such as stone, mortar, and plaster were used in the construction of this castle, giving it an exemplary strength.

Gore, an ancient city within the Firozabad plain, holds historical significance as one of the earliest examples of a geometrically planned city in ancient Iran, earning the distinction of being the first circular city in the region. The city's roots extend to the Achaemenid period before the Sasanian rule. Flourishing under Achaemenid governance, the circular city of Gōr boasted robust defenses that thwarted any attempts by adversaries to breach its walls. The Firozabad plain, with its strategic geographical position surrounded by towering mountains and flowing rivers, had captivated the interest of ancient Iranian rulers since time immemorial. Access to this area proved challenging due to its rugged terrain.

Anahita Temple is the second largest stone-construction in Iran after Persepolis, located in Kangavar, Kermanshah. This temple has been attributed to Anahita, the goddess of water and the guardian angel of fountains. Anahita or Nahid also represents beauty, healing, and fertility. Evidently, the temple has served as a place for worshiping this divine figure. The remains of this edifice stands on the top of a hill on a platform and resembles Persian architecture and traditions of classical antiquity. It also exhibits Hellenistic architecture.

When Karim Khan gained the throne in the 18th century and founded Zand Dynasty, he brough relative peace and welfare to the war-stricken country. Refusing the title of a king and referring to himself as ‘the advocate of people’, he did his best for the prosperity of people and for the improvement of the country. Inspired by the Safavid architecture he saw in Isfahan’s Naqsh-e Jahan Square, he employed the greatest architects and artists of the time to build a whole complex in his capital Shiraz. Beside Vakil Mosque, Vakil Bathhouse, Vakil Bazaar, and structures that were destroyed by the following king, he ordered the quick construction of the Arg (1766). Meant to be his royal court, it combined the architectural elements of both a home and a military center. The strong building later served as the governors’ seat in Qajar era and a prison in Pahlavi era. Finally, it got renovated and started functioning as a protected sight in the 1970s.

Si-o-Se-Pol, literally meaning thirty-three bridges, is a magnificent and unique structure built over the Zayanderud River. It is also known by the name of its erector, Allah Verdi Khan, who was one of the generalissimos of Safavid dynasty. The architecture of Si-o-Se-Pol was Master Hossein Bana Esfahani. The genius of this artist can be realized when we are informed that despite all the bridges that have been built in the narrowest part of the river, Master Hossein Bana chose widest part of Zayanderud to build Si-o-Se-Pol. The reason for his decision was that it is the shallowest part of the river, and also provides great views of the surrounding. During history, many travelers and tourists have adored and admired Si-o-Se-Pol. Some of them are the British writer and geography scientist Percy Sykes, the French traveler Jean Chardin, and the Ambassador of King of Spain Don Garcia. They have all mentioned the many beauties of the bridge in their notes.
