The Grand Mosque of Yazd is a building measuring 104 by 99 square meters, in the historical context of the city of Yazd, which was completed over a hundred years. A large part of this building is engraved with historical inscriptions from different periods of rule and eye-catching tile work. Before the mosque was built, there was a fire temple on this land; this is one of the findings of Iraj Afshar, an Iranian historian. During the Sassanid period and after the Arab invasion, the fire temples were destroyed, and today, all that remains of that Zoroastrian place of worship is a wall behind the new Grand Mosque
