Not sure about the context, but something I've discovered the hard way (and is trivial to address) is that vanilla ERC-721 contract don't even mention - Support for ERC-7572 (contractURI) - Support for Reverse Claimer: https://docs.ens.domains/web/naming-contracts#reverse-claimer-sol which are both trivial to add and really useful (especially 7572).

Best is subjective but I usually default to solmate, and fall back to OpenZeppelin if I need one of the extensions
