This is always the risk of building a company in SF. Midwit meme but for founders. The just starting and top tier founders rarely are. That said, the scenesters per capita of other US cities is almost certainly higher (esp. if you filter for $10M+ raised).

yeah austin, nashville, new york etc. way higher 'scenester' per capita. but anyway, scenester is such a funny boomer outdated term, conjures images of hot topic skinny jeans emo kids in 2006. poseur probably more accurate but even more antiquated term.

I’m afraid this is even worst the further you are from SF: Founders who want to do things the “Silicon Valley” way, but are mostly exposed to the superficial and fashionable side. “This is what the cool SF founders/startups do, well do it too”.
