Mission of the startup: make Farcaster an internet-scale permissionless, credibly neutral protocol with 1 billion plus DAU.

Strategy: to get to that many DAU, need many apps and services built by developers, developers are attracted by a growing population of engaged, quality DAU. Build client to bootstrap DAU.

Since you’re building both an app and a protocol, do you have to answer the 5 key startup questions 2x in your pitch? Or how do you handle expressing this vision?

There's a ton of potential here with zero knowledge proofs + the fact that all Farcaster users by definition have to have a public and private key.

What are your thoughts about where to go with anonymity or pseudonymity in Farcaster or any like service? What needs to be built or conceived?

There’s sometimes a momentary emotional reaction, but generally not fomo driven. Wouldn’t have started working on decentralized social networking protocol in 2020 with @v if we were.

We’re focused on retained, quality DAU. Everything else is noise.

Dan has it been difficult to continue living by your principle around deliberate growth given the macro environment around decentralized social?

Are you worried about Damus/Nostr/Mastodon etc being more mainstream and in news cycles than farcaster? 

Any fomo?

Have never believed in the fat protocol thesis outside a small number of core blockchains. Attention is where the value is.

I would love to have URL notifications, i.e. if you share a link on my blog on Farcaster, I can sign either at the DNS level or in an HTML meta tag that the author was @dwr.eth on Farcaster and then I natively get a notification like a normal at mention.
