it's perfectly backward I want touch on phone and face on mac I also use a non-apple keyboard so my hand is seldom near the touch scanner but I'm always looking squarely at the screen when I want to unlock I'm often not squared up to my phone but it's always in my hand when I want to unlock

I think they are preparing for this with the notch, maybe next MacBooks will have it! Watch is great in the meantime, but only if you want a watch 😅

Kinda curious about the the eye tracking camera Tobii has, which does the Windows equivalent for. Facial recognition. There is also a fairly simple diy project to liberate the Touch ID from a Mac keyboard if you’re so inclined. https://gist.github.com/KhaosT/1406a6b6bea38f59e059c2afcb39d545

Yes, would be awesome. I love my MacBook Air m2 right now and just link it with my monitor. Works perfect with a hub and I can work with two displays🔥

The auth UX when used alongside an Apple Watch is nice. Anywhere that needs TouchID can prompt your watch for approval. Unlock with Apple Watch as well.

same, i use a logitech keyboard so i can switch it between pc/mac so i miss out on touch id. gotta imagine that with the phone as a wireless camera now well be able to do facetime with it in the near future. payments with apple pay already get sent to the phone for facetime

Same. I think a lot of people are using Mechanical keyboards these days and don’t have the ability to do the fingerprint scanner
