For a text based platform, it sure seems like a lot of people have forgotten how important word choice is. People may not remember the exact words you said, but they will remember how it made them feel. When the community feels bad, demoralized, and demotivated, there is a problem. dan is blunt, if you read his replies, you sure had to notice it. dwelling on his words that were more self-critique than anything else and taking offence feels counterproductive to what you want to achieve (what i absolutely support).

i'm not surprised people say that. social networks warp us towards more drama. (plus i believe people that leave *you* answers want to be liked by you so they tend to say things they think you'd appreciate. the question looks neutral, but they know how you feel.) dan's been repeating this statement forever and people got offended only now? it's mimesis all the way down. and it's accounts that create the drama they mimic (charitable interpretation is not so engaging and therefore meme dies quickly)

Not exactly. It’s that is has been said over and over and some people said it’s only been said once and everyone is misinterpreting it. I can’t comment on how everyone is interpreting it. I’ll let them say that anon. I can only speak up when my community feels constantly dismissed and raise awareness that many people feel this way.

but you already know how dan meant it, no? why not try to mend the bridges instead? if i were one of the accounts you defend i would definitely feel hostile towards dan, just because i'd accept your interpretation as mine. This is the first time in months it’s been clarified. I’m trying to highlight that and showcase how people feel. Everyone here is an adult. They can leave if they want. They feel this environment is hostile and I think that needs to be surfaced. I will speak for those who feel they can’t. I don’t mind taking heat for it. We call them hot takes for a reason.
