I've been up to my eyeballs in React and I feel like I am being made to work harder than I would have to in other frameworks and moreover the only reason all of this is so popular is that because massive incomes are tied to it. I don't respect this.

NO I made an astronomy photo of the day frame that expanded in scope a bit. Long story short I vibe coded my way through a simple mvp using chatgpt and the tutorial. But now unfortunately I am learning things about how all this works.

The tutorial made architecture decisions I blindly followed that are now right fucking me. And when I take a step back i don't even really see the point lol overengineered mess

Common rookie mistake, you don’t learn how to write code, you need to actually understand what happens under the hood so that you know what actually goes/went wrong if something happens.

Everyone loves to say this, and to some degree it’s true. However there was scope creep here as well so I am not sure this analysis is entirely fair

Fair, but scope creep doesn’t cancel out the original mistake, it just adds another layer. Blindly following a tutorial and dealing with shifting requirements are two separate issues compounding each other. anyways there are things you learn from experience; I won’t take that from you.

I am a retard, but not a stone cold retard. I feel indignant here mostly because the mistake I made is somewhat unique to the framework. I am not learning new skills here — this is rote memorization about the idiosyncratic features of an over engineered ecosystem I have conviction all of this was invented to justify the salary

Annoying as it is, some of that complexity is a necessary evil to keep things scalable and flexible. With time you’d appreciate it more.
