square raising fees by 5¢ a transaction might seem small, but it adds up fast for small businesses your local coffee shop selling 300 coffees a day? that’s $5k/year gone, and margins are already paper-thin we need an onchain economy that serves people, not middlemen

Is this additional 5k not worth it to have the best software and hardware? Isn’t that what this represents more than network costs since they are just running on Major CC settlement layer? How can Base help solve for this?

Where the middle ground between paying with USDC on Base and using my AMEX We know the customer will choose convenience but given equal convenience they will choose to save $ too

Good catch, Drew. This is huge for small biz. And they're already taking a percentage. Admittedly less than most credit card processors, but they add that extra nickel. Accept crypto and accept cash.

So far, everything onchain seems to be more expensive (e.g. being charged to buy assets which is free for stocks). What is the equivalent of Square for onchain? And is there anything built-in that prevents something that's cheap now to be expensive later? Square had the same promise when they launched.
