Wonderplant 5. Today no edible plant but a ornamental one. T.aurea or silver trumpet imported to Vietnam maybe from South America. It gains much popularity here due to spectacular flower and good shade. T.aurea also adapts so well with VN climate so it can grow it ease

Does the drink in pic look delicious ? It is Vietnamese style sugarcane juice Sugarcane is absolutely nothing new. Its juice is sold by street vendors in many countries But only juice squeezed from sugarcane is too sweet, people add other things like pineapple, peanut, jackfruits pulp and the taste is superb

Wonder plant 3. Today i will tell the story of water spinach or kangkong This simple veggie actually save a lot of people in my place. Vietnamese people been through many wars. When one side lost and have to leave an area, they usually destroy everything: agricultural facilities, crops, animals etc.... Many people already died in starvation. So tragic. You can read about that in many Vietnamese novels. But this water spinach, its role as emergency food helped save many lives They're rich in nutrition and require no care to growth. Just plant some in muddy soil (like lake , canal, ...) and you can harvest large amount after few weeks. Leave can be eaten both cooked and raw and other part can be used for animal feeding But water spinach got one drawback. As aquatic plant and natural water purifier, they also take many toxic elements like heavy metals. So now farmers are trying to grow clean kangkong with hydroponics method Nowadays, when no need for emergency food, we stir fry kangkong or make soup with it.
