The berry is common in West Africa countries (like Benin). People use it to add sweetness to palm wine or sour bread. The mechanism behind miraculin is when you taste sour food (low pH) it activate and trick your tongue to feel sweetness

With this weird ability, this berry has potential to be used as sweeteners f. But it need much more research before that. So far, people only use it for fun. Vendors sell to curious people as ornamental trees. You may see in the picture, they called it "cay than ki"

Here is a picture of lucuma flower. You can see there're many. My mom love this fruit. It smell so good when ripe and only edible at that time. But it will spoil very fast so you must eat it soon

In Vietnam, lucuma is not super popular though. But many farmers grow it as ornamental tree in garden and sell the extra fruit to wet market, so fresh lucuma can be bought easily. By belong to Sapotaceae family, lucuma can yield many fruits per harvest

The reason why it is uncommon i guess is because it is not very delicious. The pulp texture is dry, sandy, and sweet. One more reason, it is easy to get damage during transportation. That's why manufacturer often make powder product from it

Outside of using as food, daikon can also help for land transformation as it have strong root and help breaking soil. This practice applied in Western countries. They planted daikon in winter. Then let cattle graze the leave in spring then leave the tuber in the soil

In my hometown, Vietnam, people often prepare Chinese Onion to eat during Lunar new year. We called it "Củ kiệu". This dish is more famous in South of Vietnam than North. Northern provinces often eat pickled shallot instead
