anyone actually using intellij / webstorm? i have for the past ~10y and it's been the best dev env i've ever tried. granted, i used it for java (be) + js (fe), but it was great for both. recently i've been testing vscode/cursor and they're good (especially cursor w claude), but it's far from what i was used to with jetbrains.

i’ve been using intellij for java and vscode for js and python. i find scripting languages work great in vscode, but intellij is the best ide for java, especially with its plugin support for testing and documentation. i just love the jacoco plugin. i have never used intellij for fe. how’s your experience? what stands out?

it just worked very well out of the box - code completion, refactoring, and all the little bits and pieces that don't stand out by themselves, but work together to create a delightful experience. the only thing that bothered me was that it was quite resource-heavy (but at least predictably - vs code would work smoothly 80% of the time and then go into absolute freeze frenzy the rest of the time).

This is what I do too, I prefer VSCode with extensions for JS, but IDEA is amazing for Java
