anyone actually using intellij / webstorm? i have for the past ~10y and it's been the best dev env i've ever tried. granted, i used it for java (be) + js (fe), but it was great for both. recently i've been testing vscode/cursor and they're good (especially cursor w claude), but it's far from what i was used to with jetbrains.

yes, for java be (spring boot) - works the best, for everything else Vs code (+ cursor recently) - always feel more lightweight comparing to intelij + plugins like excalidraw is a bonus btw, very curious do you use java for frames in any way?

i’ve been using intellij for java and vscode for js and python. i find scripting languages work great in vscode, but intellij is the best ide for java, especially with its plugin support for testing and documentation. i just love the jacoco plugin. i have never used intellij for fe. how’s your experience? what stands out?

Been using Visual Studio (the commercial one) for decades, but since I've switched to Linux I've been using the JetBrains stuff and it's rubbing off on me... The AI Assistant doesn't seem as good as Claude on Cursor, though, so I'm switching between the two now 😃

the lack of AI, is what gonna be downfall of jetbrains they need to integrate better AI to win, they used their own ai and its suck coz we can't have the choice to pick between their own ai or claude, one thing i like is the ai commit, in cursor there is no ai commit yet, i wonder why

If you're working on a larger project, WebStorm may be a better choice as it has better performance when dealing with large codebases.
