FC is worse! One dominant client that defacto controls everything, and if that wasn't bad enough it has a fucking proprietary license

Nah, FC has multiple clients. BlueSky has one, and more importantly, one data firehose to actually crawl the PDSs.

Bluesky has loads of clients, not just one. What's true is that: 
1) Some infrastructure is in practice only run by bsky rn
2) You can run your own PDS but Bluesky will only peer with it if it's teensy (last time I checked)

What's true of both is that if the dominant client blocks you, you're tweeting into a void
