saddened. I wish the west would impose transitive sanctions (won't trade with anyone who trades with russia) to use their leverage as global importers to force putin out of power

Real talk, while I get why that could be appealing, I think capitalism and markets always trump international state regulation and so I think that sanctioning will have an adverse effect on the west. Markets will find a way to route around sanctions
