This thread reminds me of a great conversation had at MISIPASTA. We (@fffflood, @samuellhuber.eth, @iz, other great folks who I don't know their fname – tag 'em!) were talking about the assertion that "crypto needs to grow". One hard question: "do we really?" TradFi isn't trying to bring new users onto Bloomberg.

The way you put this makes it seem like Bloomberg kept their core business the terminal and never expanded beyond that into news and media Finance is broadly applicable to everyday life and Bloomberg does a great job of making that accessible to people who don’t work in finance via these vehicles Think it’s inaccurate to say they never diversified

Didn't say they never diversified products. They did. But they didn't diversify markets. They're not missionaries. For instance: the Bloomberg news network is intended for people in finance. People go to finance; not the other way around. Will the same be true of crypto? IDK.

I guess what I am really driving at is legacy finance is societal infrastructure and we all participate in it. You don’t opt in and you don’t have a choice. People don’t go to — they are born in Crypto is more of a belief system with markets inside it — you have to opt in, unlike trad fi
