This thread reminds me of a great conversation had at MISIPASTA. We (@fffflood, @samuellhuber.eth, @iz, other great folks who I don't know their fname – tag 'em!) were talking about the assertion that "crypto needs to grow". One hard question: "do we really?" TradFi isn't trying to bring new users onto Bloomberg.

For the record, I think we *do* need to grow. But I don't think that financialization is the primary value prop.

The interesting part is re: the form factor. Tradfi isn’t trying to bring new people to Bloomberg… but Vanguard and Robinhood have redefined how people interact with capital markets in radically different directions.

The way you put this makes it seem like Bloomberg kept their core business the terminal and never expanded beyond that into news and media Finance is broadly applicable to everyday life and Bloomberg does a great job of making that accessible to people who don’t work in finance via these vehicles Think it’s inaccurate to say they never diversified

TradFi has already captured the market of people who should be using Bloomberg Terminal DeFi is doing a much better job than consumer crypto at starting to capture the attention of institutions, who will then give access to DeFi via consumer apps consumer crypto nowhere near close imo
