Why haven’t we found out WTF happened in 1971? Is there a book about this?

I'm probably missing something, and a book would be very interesting, but I've always though this was a straw-man "mystery": • The first personal computer was in 1971. • The first electronic stock market (NASDAQ) as in 1971. • Gold standard was ended by Nixon in 1971. Because of these three things, humans have become really good at maximizing productivity-per-dollar and a more efficient allocation of capital.

I am most interested in how the innovation and monetary policy shaped culture, which I am not sure has been exam-mined as closely? That's really the book I'm looking for. Like, I just learned this morning the first gay man appeared on TV during that year, too.
