Why do you think political betting took off onchain before sports betting?

What problems would being onchain solve for sports betting?

It probably won’t help the reputation of crypto, but sports betting feels like the next obvious onchain use case.

Sports betting is HIGHLY regulated and that regulation is fractured. 

IMO, it’s a quick way to incur massive fines or worse.

Political betting is not really a thing offchain, so it’s easier to experiment with.

Being onchain, it’d ease a lot of user friction introduced by said regulation, but now catch-22.
