A reminder for those who missed it. This very clear explanation (below) of how so-called “leftism” is bigger than communism and bigger than moneyless societies—with a subtle jab about how red scare propaganda has turned a generation of people into black and white thinkers—started an absolute war where Dan and a few other capitalism-fetichists just kept playing the “leftism is communism is death squads” card over and over again. It has been the most fatiguing 24 hours that has made me detest some folks I once set aside my differences with and enjoyed discussing with.

A lot of the time people label mixed economies as “socialist” without being challenged on it. Then once that definition is established they argue against “socialism” as defined by state ownership of the means of production. Don’t go along for the ride. It’s just gonna go in circles until the wheels fall off.

Thanks. I wish I’d taken that advice. My blood pressure has been through the roof all day 😅

Rather than “your sources are inaccurate” try “that’s not even what we’re talking about” By attempting to correct a piece of irrelevant information, it aligns you as defending whatever it is they’re ranting against.

Well tbf I did call his favourite book factually inacurate garbage and he tried to back it up with links to Wikipedia articles that I have to assume he didn’t read. I pointed out that they confirmed my point about gross exaggeration but in way too many words. You’re right, I should have been succinct. Maybe throw in a condescending little :) like he does whenever he assumes he’s ratiod someone.
