KYC is privacy invasive though, unless it can be handled in a decentralised manner, which I'm an advocate of to manage problems with spam and/or incentive farming. You're talking about farcaster here specifically, though, right?

I am by no means advocating for kyc. Some forms of proof of human would do. I like poap, gitcoin passport, circle ubi. I think it could be solved using crypto economics over biometrics

Sounds like the right direction to me. Going back to the original post, I'm not sure that this is holding us back exactly, but then it was never clarified as to what that is holding us back from.
