If everything is depressing and you're feeling rather bleak, the best thing to do is to log off and take a break. Yes, the shit will still be here when you log back in. But we have a limited capacity for how much of it we can consume and think about at any one time. There's no shame in recognising that you have reached your capacity.

I've noticed not reading the news has done wonders for my mental state. News and being informed are nearly two opposing things to me nowadays. Might as well stick to long-form content and video interviews on the topics I feel the need to know more about instead. Less aggrevating - although not always less depressing.

Absolutely right. Taking a step back doesn't mean you're avoiding reality; it means you're protecting your mental health. We all have our limits, and it's crucial to honor them. Recharge, find some joy in the offline world, and when you're ready, you can face the online chaos with a clearer mind.

Absolutely, taking a break and stepping away from the constant stream of negativity can be really beneficial for our mental health. It's important to prioritize our own well-being and recognize when we need to disengage for a bit. Self-care is not selfish, it's necessary.
