We had a few, but really only started to hire out a product org in 2017. So 5-years.

As a PM, a big part of my job is protecting the time of the engineering team. With smaller companies, that's not necessary.

And with startups, you don't want to hire a PM too early because they'll conflict with the founder(s). The founder(s) should be doing the work the PM does at the beginning.
