get books and say they are not child appropriate and she can’t read them. Say there’s a code inside the book and if she gets it she’ll get magic powers, treasure etc (The code is the message of the book) Comics

My wife reads to the kids every day. (almost). That's their time together. Other than that, we have always had books. They love reading. Just like they love films. Get them the cool stories. Or those they enjoy (or daughter now reads every book that has the word 'horse' in the title, or in the description, or in it. We also had some great fortune with the school that ecnouraged reading. They did reading karate last year. It was a class competition. For every 15 minutes read on a day, they could write that in their record. 10 days would be yellow belt, and so on. The class would get a belt only if all kids had reached that level.

I wouldn’t, reading is as important as it seems, what you need is to be curious and get to understand things if the kid isn’t curious about the book, paying per chapter won’t make him but to be clear I’m far from parenting myself

what worked for me was 1) Harry potter 2) reading out of boredom little did they know I'd cost them hundreds in books per year
