My wife reads to the kids every day. (almost). That's their time together. Other than that, we have always had books. They love reading. Just like they love films. Get them the cool stories. Or those they enjoy (or daughter now reads every book that has the word 'horse' in the title, or in the description, or in it. We also had some great fortune with the school that ecnouraged reading. They did reading karate last year. It was a class competition. For every 15 minutes read on a day, they could write that in their record. 10 days would be yellow belt, and so on. The class would get a belt only if all kids had reached that level.
