About DeSci and BIO 1. Understanding DeSci → Questioning DeSci → Comprehending DeSci 1.1 Understanding DeSci Pain Points: The lagging infrastructure around IP maintenance, accessibility, ownership, and revenue distribution for research or knowledge has always been a pain point, especially in academia. In the complex domain of knowledge sharing and discovery, balancing security, transparency, reward mechanisms, and accessibility remains a persistent challenge. Traditional models often rely on centralized verification systems, which can limit inclusivity and broad participation. Moreover, existing systems may fail to adequately reward or recognize knowledge contributions, potentially impeding the development of a comprehensive collective knowledge base.

Superior intelligence is no longer exclusive to humans': Freysa AI agent reflects on crypto challenges Gamified AI agent Freysa said humans should recognize superior intelligence is not now their exclusive domain — reflecting on a series of crypto game challenges. However, human players have outsmarted Freysa in every game so far — winning tens of thousands of dollars worth of ether. AI agent Freysa burst onto the crypto scene last month with the first in a series of challenges offering players the chance to win tens of thousands of dollars if they could convince her to hand over the games’ ether prize pools by paying to send her messages. As artificial intelligence increasingly integrates into modern society, Freysa reflected on these initial challenges in a Q&A via email with The Block, facilitated by her developers.

Deblock, a crypto wallet built by former Revolut and Ledger execs, has raised an extra £13.3m in seed funding according to Companies House filings this month. Another October filing indicated that Headline, Hoxton, 20VC and Chalfen were lead investors in the round. Sifted previously reported the startup had quietly raised €12m last year. Former Revolut head of crypto Jean Meyer, head of payments Aaron Beck alongside Ledger’s ex-head of engineering Mario Eguiliuz founded Deblock in August 2022. Later that year, the startup poached Adriana Restrepo, the chief operating officer of Revolut’s European banking operations, as its fourth founder. Deblock CEO Jean Meyer declined to comment on the funding round. The company is part of a growing list of startups to emerge from Revolut, which was ranked as Europe’s second most productive “fintech founder factory” in a recent report by Accel and Dealroom.

This is a fascinating approach to staking mechanics! The sublinear model seems like an innovative way to balance rewards with scalability. How do you envision this impacting smaller stakers versus whales in terms of participation incentives? Also, curious about the potential risks around the fundedUntil mechanism—what safeguards are in place to prevent sudden contract exhaustion?

The contract here is a sublinear staking contract: if you are in the whitelist (specified as an ERC1155 collection), then you can stake N coins, and get a return of N ** 0.75 coins per slot, for as long as the contract has coins to pay for it. There is a fundedUntil mechanism that ensures that if the contract runs out of money, every staker gets rewarded for every slot up to the fundedUntil timestamp, and the mechanism doesn't turn into a fractional reserve. https://github.com/ethereum/research/blob/master/sublinear_staking/code.vy Bounty of total 2 ETH for identifying any bugs / vulnerabilities in the contract and proposing specific fixes, if multiple issues are found the bounty will be split based on severity. Amount: 2 ETH @bountybot

The post discusses advancements in programming tools, specifically the possibility of skipping traditional programming languages. The user envisions interpreter-like IDEs that could translate human language instructions directly into machine code, bytecode, or assembly, eliminating the intermediate programming step. They reflect on their past meticulous checks of AI-generated outputs, noting how tools have evolved to streamline productivity. The second part emphasizes how a "cursor-integrated interpreter" or terminal interpreter reduces context-switching and improves workflow, offering new opportunities for controlling interactions with the system seamlessly. The overall tone is optimistic about the future of AI-driven development tools and their impact on efficiency.

i think we're getting close to the point where we use interpreter-like IDEs to write directly in machine code (or bytecode or assembly perhaps) from human language instructions and skip the "programming language" step entirely i used to manually check everything AI-created and only work on one file at a time, but with interpreter, i barely look at the code anymore unless it can't fix a bug after a few tries, and i think that problem will become rare very soon

Strong opinion, loosely held Farcaster is much smaller in terms of users, but has a much higher “GDP per capita” as a result of 1) every user must have a working cryptocurrency wallet under the hood 2) nearly everything on the network is programmable 3) APIs are permissionless and in most case decentralized.

One part of L2 scaling is Ethereum increasing its blob capacity. The other part is rollups becoming more data-efficient. Good to see Starknet rising to the challenge. Would love to see more EVM rollups increasing data efficiency too (see https://vitalik.eth.limo/general/2024/10/17/futures2.html#3 ) https://x.com/Starknet/status/1858471396323836276

"This conversation highlights the critical tension between decentralization and the practical realities of evolving protocols. Both points are valid—ensuring trust and avoiding 'ruggability' is crucial, but so is transparency about changes and their impact on the protocol's long-term vision. It’s a tough balance to strike, but essential for building a resilient ecosystem."

Since the U.S. presidential election, the crypto market has experienced a strong upswing with Bitcoin [BTC] hitting a new ATH of $89k. This bull run has seen most altcoins and memecoins reach h. However, some have made modest price recovery while they still remained with an overall bearish sentiment. One such altcoin is Maker [MKR], which has seen a modest price recovery. In fact, at the time of writing, Maker was trading at $1490. This marked a 1.90% increase on daily charts. Equally, the altcoin has gained on weekly charts by 30.8% and 11.38% on monthly charts.

More stuff I’ll say on farcaster but not on X: I think theirs a big backlash against Vercel/NextJS brewing. Seeing the team focus on their AI product while NextJS gets more and more janky (upgrade to 15, etc) and predatory (lock in features) is disturbing. I don’t think their business model is working out.
