Times have changed, in the past it was invested by banks in development and productivity and today in political goals. Same with pension funds, it is increasingly becoming an extension of the government than a savings pot for later. what could go wrong? 🤡

Better question is what could go right. The problem with the EU and its central bank is it's kind of a union in name only. They actually don't have the stones and never did to actually do central banking operations, hence the Draghi report which spelled out: you kind of have to print money and promote growth to low growth countries.
