Posting this new free piece everywhere for a sec - BUT - What do you think? Are some people just born with an artistic sensibility and talent? Do artists HAVE to be built/refined/trained? https://zora.co/collect/zora:0x492bc7e7e380388915841e3f24c2edadb7e74db2/7

great artists put in work. ‘idiot savant artist’ stereotype is a myth perpetuated by gatekeepers

I think where this is less clear is that if you truly enjoy the work you don't even think of it as work there are many who essentially devalue their own effort because it's fun and they like doing it, which makes it "not work" and they might even think of themselves as lazy

I think this is what a lot of "natural talent" actually is, it's people enjoying the process so thoroughly they don't realize they are putting in effort and expend near zero mental effort to go and do the work, so they can do more of it and skills are compounding

💯 if it feels like like doing the laundry you prob won’t be a successful artist. Was thinking of myth that someone just picks up a paintbrush/guitar/laptop and magically r amazing. In my view great artists know exactly what they’re doing and if it seems they don’t it’s more because they can’t iterate it
