Have you ever had a coffee with human breast milk? I have. For the first time last night. I also helped my friend pump her breast milk by drinking it. Directly from the source. Yes, that means I suckled from her nipple to drink the milk to drain her overflowing breasts. Baby was sleeping. Pumping supplies were in baby’s room. Entering would risk waking baby up. Breasts were painful and leaking. Mama had drank wine. Milk was tainted. Not suitable for baby anyway. She was trying to hand express, but it’s easier to drain the milk with suction. I’m a good friend. I offered a favor to help her. Next level of friendship: unlocked.

very neutral. kind of like water, but better? innately nutritious. There were no notably strong flavors I observed. Overall it tasted pretty good imo

Breast milk does not taste like better water. It has a strong and distinctive sweet taste.

I would think it depends on lots of things! I remember it being close to almond milk in both consistency and taste. Though it was way more neutral after having been frozen for a few weeks

You’re def right about milk tasting different. Probably each mama’s milk taste different for each other. There are some articles that say apparently mother’s bodies can interpret the baby’s nutritional needs and produce milk depending on the needs of the baby it’s primarily feeding. I wouldn’t know, but seems likely taste will vary between each mama’s milk.

That's right, I totally forgot this from our parenting classes. When a baby latches, it sends signals to the mother to produce different nutrients based on what's missing. Everything from antibodies to vitamins and even melatonin iirc. The human body is so well designed!
