Struggling to avoid frustration with family , particularly older relatives, when it comes to the kids. They do things out of laziness and selfishness that encourage bad habits or cause a problem later (like ruining naptime or something). They don’t listen and then they give me shit for having to be on their case.

uncomfortable for sure, i've had episodes like this w/ my mother, not so much due to encouraging bad habits, just on things we're trying to do differently in our household; but she takes it like i'm criticizing her... then tension goes away after a while but nothing really gets resolved 😅 same case for you?

Yes definitely a healthy dose of that. With an air of superiority like they know some ancient wisdom lol and then you have to navigate bruised egos. Although they’re always shoving screens in the kids’ faces which wasn’t even a thing when they had kids!

the screen thing is maddening. my dad does a similar thing: he gives kids ice cream, caffeine, fried chicken against their parents' wishes and rules. I think there's a power trip element to it
