Strongly feel like @base needs to distinguish itself from Solana if it wants to win consumer this cycle. Right now Solana is running laps around everyone as the main hub for degen trading and memecoins. IMO the way Base wins is by leaning more into truly free mints and bringing mainstream culture onchain without it feeling like an investment that is meant to 10x. Crypto people don't quite get this - but it's far more likely that people dip their toes in if they don't feel like they're having to risk their entire net worth in the process. Less focus on get rich quick, more on building sustainable organic communities that can shine in the absence of 100x's.

We have to do better on selling “why onchain” to non-crypto folk. E.g. what are the value props of crypto that necessitate tarot cards be onchain? Why does that matter?

Yes - and - maybe scenecoins like ↑ could be a key differentiator as these base tokens have an unfair advantage bc of the seamless integration with consumer crypto products proliferated by farcaster (?)

That's a fine narrative, but cynical me reads it as big words devoid of substance. What I'd like to see being discussed is how exactly is mainstream culture brought on chain in general, and more specifically how is Base doing that better than others? 🤔

I’d add that a fluid community with well defined cogs of the “base machine” that allows the sort of fluidity that solana provided for artists, degens, devs and even investors would go a long way. I started out on solana as an artist way back on and watched myself gradually change roles more easier than I’ve ever seen in any chain. from degen to artist and back again. that sort of fluidity would be great to have on here 20 $DEGEN
