Random takeaways on Argentinan wine after spending a week winetasting in Mendoza: - exceptional value. Had a glass of $2 wine that blew me away - they rarely age wines? Everyone I talked to much preferred younger vintages - it's more cost effective to buy a bottle at a restaurant than 2 glasses of wine (?) - high-elevation chardonnays taste more like chablis - Catena Zapata is fantastic I primarily drink new world wines, but after this trip I'll definitely be adding some bottles of Mendoza malbec to my repertoire.

Catena Malbec is also quite lovely. Younger wines from Argentina are a nice house staple around my dinner table.
