if we want renaissance vibes back again we have to bring back patronage in full form

creativity, curiosity, boundless exploration are all at the core of making anything fun and magical 

science won’t be this cool and exploratory again until research financing isn’t a huge PITA and doesn’t come with strings attached 🥲

when it comes to state-funded pursuits:

- remove all extraneous incentives from funding scientific projects
- remove conditions, dependencies and milestones for funding scientific projects

make science free again
