Ethical litmus test for businesses: If your customers understood your business model, would they still feel good about using your product? Seems like lots of big tech folks don’t let their kids use the product…

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society. -J. Krishnamurti What would adjusting to a healthy society look like? Maybe tech could look to yoga for inspiration:

There’s a clear consensus emerging that the technology we are using everyday is harming us. It’s fragmenting our attention and turning our time into time-confetti. It’s radicalizing us and polarizing us to a degree that is destabilizing to society. Is it so crazy to want technology and systems that are designed to be responsive to my higher goals rather than my lizard brain?

In a sense, humans have been cyborgs since we began using tools and language. Technology is now what we do. We use clever ways to extend our abilities, strengths, senses and intelligence. We use it to build collective intelligence. And we convert resources and energy from one form to another. Ants build anthills, bees build hives and make honey, humans 'do' technology.

Hi, I’m new here. My name is Clifford and I’m a musician, designer, yogi and futurist. I’m launching a substack called Daylighting where I will be exploring Calm Tech, Neuro Aesthetics, and other ideas at the intersection of sound, movement, consciousness and technology. I think we’re on the edge of a new paradigm, the old one is crumbling, and it’s up to us to envision and build the future we want to see. Right now, I see a lack of imagination in the mainstream tech world. Or rather, a sort of aesthetic color-blindness to the psycho-spiritual dimensions of life. But I believe that with better tools and better systems we can create a much healthier world. I love to connect with likeminded people! I also make songs as GEMS https://open.spotify.com/artist/1hjVmBR8STjix0vBUe5YfN?si=Wl2M8ETXQZOduoNfv1HEBQ And as Falling Over Water https://open.spotify.com/artist/5WK9cwdHprQAbXCYxMqgIf?si=8Q5QAC4HRgGeCiykMF3hrg
