Q: Do you need a cofounder or can you build solo?

A recovering founder. Currently building something new. 2x exits @$500M+ (mostly got lucky)

The startup emotional toll is simply too much. You need someone to talk to about anything. You need to game plan together - by the game plan will always change, real time

Also, being a small team (vs being a single person) is a more stable and significance presence for "the other side of the table" too - whether it's investors or potential hires (although I'm not suggesting you find a cofounder purely for optics)

Personally I won't do any startup without a cofounder ever

Depends on the type of startup, but mostly co-founder or high functioning advisor

Realtalk: Solo is just fine, however, many investors do filter for co-founders and zero side projects.

Solo founders and multi project founders are definitely penalized.

I know ppl who don't want a co-founder anymore. after "bad experience"

I def would go with a co-founder. unless I already made and have a lot of money to hire someone for a business. If it's a startup prob co-founder is needed

I’m technically a solo founder but I have a business partner (leta wares) who I share customers and materials with. 

I feel more comfortable retaining 100% equity and just paying him here and there for certain deals or materials :)
