My 11 yo is currently writing a gothic story. Love that education is emphasising story telling. But to what end? Never has she been asked to write what she believes in. Too much of these skills will end up being directed at writing company reports rather than what is truly valuable. Let’s have /believein for kids

Hmm. Good point. But I think these things are very teacher-dependent. My son, in Year 6, has a teacher who really inspires them to express their thoughts. With poetry, mainly. But still. Also, I think that's precisely the issue. It depends on a teacher not the system or structure.

Depends what the company are trying to achieve. I write reports/ strategy docs using skills in rhetoric and story-telling to influence senior leaders to implement positive people strategies. Is that not valuable @chriscocreated ?
