Exploring Bluesky has been good. It reminded me the tech-optimist leftist bubble I've been in.

The AI hatred among the left (yes, it's not just the libs) is insane.

There are meaningful conversations to have around consent, scabbing, unemployment, social upheaval. It's coming and we will HAVE TO talk about these eventually. But instead, the left is abandoning reality and leaving it to the right to shape the narrative.

I think it's about tech in general, and AI is just the latest implementation of that.
IMO it stems from the unstated axiom that tech is a thing that happens to you, rather than a tool you use or develop. Low agency thinking.
That gets ratcheted up to 11 as an artist when confronted with generative AI of your own work.
