if I had to guess… and guess I will… I’d say it’s because Chinese money positively influences middle countries the most (they lack access to cheap capital but have basic infrastructure) wealthy countries don’t always need or benefit from large inflows of cash from China (asset bubbles, pop. is weary of propaganda)

This doesn’t shock me at all. most older Americans think China is some sort of Third World country and have no idea the beauty and splendor that is Shanghai or any of the other 30 megalopolis metros that they’ve built in the past 25 years.
