In my experience*, ~20 years ago campaigning negatively AGAINST the opponents instead of positively FOR your agenda was perceived as cringe. Today, it's cringe to be a passionate Trump supporter or a passionate Harris supporter. Being a passionate anti-Harris or anti-Trump person is a lot more acceptable. At the end of the day, who wants to be strongly associated with two unqualified warhawks (even if one is slightly better than the other)? The "lesser of two evils" logic isn't just bad for policies. It's also bad for discourse and even how you position yourself in society. *: Most parts of it outside the US

Part of why I try to get people to join the Greens. We need everyone's help to best articulate and fight for a positive vision of our future.

I always has perceived US politics is more like fighting the opponent (by all means) more than defending agenda, found an increment of these strategies in europe last 10 years, probably inspired by the US, but not an expert on US politics.. probably, it works because most people does not have a great background in politics and hate is an easy trigger.. i think we are going to vote for a fascism dictatorship soon..

lesser of two evil is giving up morals and critical thinking in favour of convenience, less effort, and cut it short. it's when we have a credit card in place of a heart, in a mall, mall world.

Nihilism on the rise and many politicians love the cynical/disengaged populace that comes with it, even if it means bit more hate towards them.

Have you noticed they don't talk about what they will do in office? It looks like their advisers forbid them to do so because doing so is bad for their campaign. Could it be because it's worse to have people against one of your plans than having people in favor of a part?
